     History
The area around the cemetery was the site of two civil war battles. Sept 30, 1862  - 345 casualties Confederate victory; Oct 28, 1864 - 650 casualties Union victory. There are approximately 200 graves, marked only by rough sandstone or field stones.Which are almost certainly graves of Confederate dead. The cemetery is currently owned by the Newtonia Battlefields Protection Association.
     Paranormal Accounts
People report seeing shadow figures, unseen persons walking around, feelings of dread, and hearing battle sounds and drums playing.

     Personal Experiences
All evening we were surrounded by unexplained sounds.  Numerous times we went in search of someone that wasn't even there. A group of investigators heard someone following them.  By who or what we dont know. We set up a motion detector on the road to make sure there were no surprise visitors.  The motion detector went off 3 times. Who or what set off the motion detector? No person or animal was located when it was set off.
