History
In 1849 Sinnet and Elizabeth Rankin
started construction an the two story Georgian style home. It was
completed in 1854. On December 27, 1860, Thomas Dawson sold the house
to William Kendrick.During the Civil War the Kendrick family maintained
a neutral status. Opening their home to both Union and Confederacy.
Subsequently saving the fate of the Kendrick House. The Kendrick family
occupied the house for more than 125 years. In 1990 the Victorian
Carthage, Inc. purchased the Kendrick House. They open the home
for tours and education. It is the oldest home in Jasper County.
Paranormal Accounts
A woman in white has been
reportably seen. As well as a rocking chair moving on its own.
