History
In 1859 the 12 limestone jail cells
and the Marshall's House were put to use. The Marshall's home consists
of parlor, office, three bedroom and gift shop. At times the jail not
only held men but also women and children. A couple dozen bodies would
be housed in the tiny cells during the early days. The windows were
open to the elements and to this day it is still not heated. In 1901 an
addition was added to the jail. Frank James spent six months in the
jail from 1882-83, while waiting to be tired for a train robbery and
murder. he was treated as a guest more than a prisoner. The jail was
closed in 1933.
