     History
On July 5th, 1861 Pro Southern Militia march 26 miles, in one day, to attack Union troops in the small town of Carthage, Missouri. The battle marks the only time a sitting U.S. State Governor has led troops in the battlefield. The bluff at the Carthage Battlefield is where the Union soldiers of Major-General Franz Sigel placed their cannons. The 1,100 troops were armed with .69 muskets. Some of Col. Jackson's 4,000 men were unarmed. The soldiers were underfed and some dressed in regular clothes. The result of the battle, 44 casualties and a Confederate victory.

     Paranormal Accounts
There have been many reports of soldier apparitions and cannon fire.

     Personal Experiences
During both investigations group members saw apparitions. Each investigator described either seeing a man in a grey coat without a distinguishable head or a pair of legs walking across the battlefield. We heard voices, found cold spots and had feelings of being watched.
